Books2Door and World Book Day Unite to Bring Books to More Children Across the UK & Ireland

Books2Door, the UK’s largest independent online book retailer, has partnered with World Book Day to make it easier for children across the UK and Ireland to redeem their £1/€1.50 World Book Day tokens.

From Tuesday, 18th February to Sunday, 23rd March 2025, children can use their tokens to choose their 2025 World Book Day title with no delivery fees.

This collaboration aims to support children who may not have access to physical bookstores, ensuring they can still enjoy a free £1 World Book Day book of their choice.

Once redeemed online, each customer will receive their chosen book, and what’s more, Books2Door have pledged to make the books completely FREE by freezing delivery charges on all World Book Day titles.

Founder of Books2Door, Abdul Thadha, explains:

“Parents are time poor – and we get it. I’m guilty of this myself as a father of two. We know our demographic, and understand that sometimes, parents can’t participate because maybe they have more than one job, or other commitments that make it tricky to get to a store. But these parents absolutely want to participate in World Book Day.

We’re here to make things a little easier. We’re honoured to be part of this pivotal moment in the book industry where, for the first-time ever, World Book Day tokens will be available to redeem on our website so families can receive their book easily in the post.”

The synergy continues as both the charity and online book retailer have worked tirelessly over the years to make books accessible.”

Chief Executive of World Book Day Cassie Chadderton said:

“World Book Day champions the fun of reading because it seriously improves lives; it’s the single biggest indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happier and more successful life – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational backgrounds or their income

Reading for fun is at an all-time low, which means millions of children are missing out on the benefits it brings. We believe children are more likely to read if they enjoy it, so we’re on a mission to encourage them to see reading as an entertaining, social and fun thing to do. We want more children to grow up with a life-long, life-changing habit of reading for fun and are thrilled to be partnering with Books2Door to make this a reality for more children across the UK and Ireland, through giving children access to the £1 World Book Day books through the website.”

Books2door joins independent bookshops across the UK, The Works and all the major supermarkets among many others to ensure all children can have access £1 World Book Day books. The promotion online will be from Tuesday, 18th February to Sunday, 23rd of March.
