Local pride
Representing the North East’s strong banding heritage, Houghton Area Youth Brass Band ’s talented musicians are from Hetton, Houghton and surrounding Sunderland areas. The organisation celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, and in that time have enjoyed success at both regional and national level. In the 2021 Youth Brass in Concert they came in 2nd place, and have been consecutive winners of the Youth Section of Brass at Beamish from 2016 – 2022.
A musical day out
Youth Brass in Concert is an excellent opportunity to get children inspired to take up a brass instrument, all while supporting the brass stars of the future. With tickets £14.60 for adults, £5.60 for under 18s and free for under 5s , the event is the perfect way for families to enjoy a low-cost musical day out.
“Brass banding has always been about community, and our Youth and Education activities are no different. Last year our Aspire programme saw school children from around the North East participate in a day of music making, and this year we hope Youth Brass in Concert will inspire all the young people in the audience to pick up an instrument and experience all the benefits that banding has to offer.”
