County Durham Cyclist Rides 900 Miles to Raise Funds for Prostate Cancer UK

A County Durham man has gone the extra mile – in fact, over 900 of them – to raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Peter Daglish, 36, cycled the equivalent distance of Thinford to Munich using a stationary bike at his local OneGym, completing the challenge over several weeks. The effort raised more than £1,600 in honour of his father, Michael, 65, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year but has recently been given the all-clear.

“When my dad was diagnosed, it was a shock for all of us. Thankfully, he’s now all clear, but the experience made me realise how important it is to raise awareness about prostate cancer. The challenge was tough, both mentally and physically, but having the support of OneGym and its members kept me going. I’m proud to have raised money for Prostate Cancer UK and hope it can help others who are going through similar experiences.”

Paul Pearson, Director at OneGym, praised Peter’s achievement,

“Peter’s commitment and determination have been truly inspiring. At OneGym, we’re all about helping people achieve their goals, whether they’re fitness-related or for a cause like this. We’re proud to have supported Peter during his journey and to see the positive impact our community can make. His efforts have raised vital funds and awareness for a cause that affects so many.”

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the UK, with one in eight men diagnosed during their lifetime. Funds raised by Peter will contribute to Prostate Cancer UK’s efforts to improve research, diagnosis, and support for those affected.
