“As the country re-opens and furlough comes to an end, I am aware that there will be a number of my constituents who will be seeking work as well as employers looking to take on new staff and apprentices as they start to build back better. For this reason, I have decided to host a jobs and apprenticeships fair.

“I am pleased that my call to companies and organisations seeking to recruit staff has been answered. Over 35 top local and regional employers will be attending, including Amazon, Nissan, Go North East, the Fire Service, B&Q, Network Rail, Balfour Beatty, ALDI, the ARMY, the NHS & more. Crucially, all are seeking to hire staff now, with positions ranging from entry-level school leavers to experienced hires.

The fair is FREE for both organisations and attendees and I very much hope you will come along to Derwentside College on September 17 to find the career path that you want to take.”

A Government Minister will also be attending the event.
