Covid-19, the Cosmopolitan Virus, is causing some companies to help you out financially

The clever folk on the County Durham Covid-19 Mutual Aid facebook page have worked out that there are goodies to be had in these unusual times. According to one post:

“Don’t stress about gas / electricity.

Phone them if you have a prepay meter, tell them you’re self isolating, and they will send you out 2 weeks worth of gas / electricity, or if you have a smart meter they will top you up.

BRITISH GAS 0333 202 9802
EDF 0333 200 5100
EON 0345 052 000
N POWER 0800 073 3000
SCOTTISH POWER 0800 027 0072
SSE 0345 026 2658

Please pass on to those who may need it”

Apparently you have to pay it back later, though.

If you have a Sky Sports subscription call the company directly, on 0800 151 2747, to pause it. Be prepared for a long wait, though.

Based on the two examples above, it’s worth investigating yourself if you can pause subscriptions or otherwise save money from companies and services you use.

Beware of Scams

Scammers are going to scam, rain or shine, and the Durham Mutual Aid group are doing their part to spread the news about scam texts and emails, the image below is an example one such scam:
