The Allotment Project is thrilled to announce the generous donation of £3,900 from RH Amar, a family-run fine food business known for their commitment to community support.
The donation is part of RH Amar’s annual initiative to donate 10% of their profits to charities nominated by their employees.
Dawn, an employee of RH Amar, nominated The Allotment Project for consideration, and her nomination was enthusiastically accepted by the company. This generous contribution will make a profound impact on the vital work of The Allotment Project. By providing essential support, we can continue our mission of offering life-changing opportunities to underprivileged youth in the Deerness Valley, County Durham. Through teaching valuable skills like bricklaying, joinery, and groundworks, we are empowering these young individuals to build a brighter future for themselves.
The funds will be used for food-related developments at The Allotment Project including the construction of a large walk-in chicken coop and a greenhouse with an indoor seating area for horticulture education. Additionally, the donation will enhance our potting and growing areas and facilitate the development of a mushroom growing shed. These improvements will enhance our capacity to teach young people about sustainable living practices and self-sufficiency through hands-on learning experiences.
The donation will be officially presented in a cheque handover ceremony on 18th July 2024 at The Allotment Project’s site. Representatives from RH Amar, including Dawn Bragan, Account Manager, will be in attendance to celebrate this meaningful contribution.
“I have followed the amazing progress of The Allotment Project since it was founded and have seen the incredible impact the charity has on the lives of the children who take part in the activities it provides. I hope that our donation will help The Allotment Project’s ambition to have an indoor facility, which will help them with their activities – whatever the weather!”
Dawn, RH Amar
