The organisers of Little Lindi – an exciting new family camping festival for the North East – are on the hunt for talented youngsters across the region.

The festival, which will make its debut in July 2022, will be an exhilarating and immersive event, filled with music, arts and all kinds of performance.

And talented young performers from the North East could be on the bill.

A coveted slot on the Main Stage alongside soon-to-be-announced big name headliners and local legends has been set aside for a Young Talent Showcase, which will give winning acts the chance to perform in front of thousands of Little Lindi festivalgoers.

Singers, dancers, musicians, acrobats, magicians, gymnasts, comedians, poets, actors and any other kind of performers you can think of, are being invited to audition for what will be a fantastic opportunity and experience.

Ahead of the festival performance, the chosen acts will take part in a 90-minute masterclass with four mentors who will be sharing their extensive experience and expertise to make sure everyone makes the most of their time in the spotlight.

International DJ, Sandy Duff – aka Mudfoot Blaps – and experienced dance performer and choreographer, Holly Irving are two of the mentors who will be working with and supporting the young acts.

Little Lindi’s creative director, Rosie Mason, said: “We always knew we wanted to give young talent the chance to be a special part of the Little Lindi programme and we’re really looking forward to seeing the amazing talent we know we have in abundance in the North East.

“We’ve very grateful to our mentors for pledging their support. It was important for us to include a masterclass element to the competition, which will offer the young performers the chance to work with some brilliant artists who have forged successful careers in the performing arts.

“We’d love to have a real variety of performances on the stage – music, dance, acrobatics, magic, circus skills, comedy, the spoken work, drama… whatever you love to do, we want to see your audition!”

Holly, who has built a national and international reputation over the past decade, said: “One of the greatest joys of being a mentor is the ability to see ahead what other cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination.”

As well as getting to take part in the masterclass and perform on the Little Lindi Main Stage, the winning entrants will also get a free family ticket* to the festival itself. (*Family ticket is limited to 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children.)

How to audition for the Little Lindi Young Talent Showcase 2022:

For anyone 18 or under who wants to apply to be part of the new Talent Showcase at Little Lindi 2022, here’s a handy step by step guide:

  • Film a 2-3 minute video of yourself performing – making sure to introduce yourself with your full name and age and also making sure that the camera is set up properly so the Little Lindi team can see and hear you clearly. Unfortunately, acts including animals will not be eligible for entry.
  • Once the competition launches on January 1, 2022, upload your video via the Little Lindi website at www.littlelindi.lindisfarnefestival.com. The closing date for entries will be April 30, 2022. (Closing date is subject to change).
  • Remember that all entrants must be accompanied and supervised by their parents, a legal guardian, or an approved non-legal guardian for the duration of the festival, including the masterclass and stage performance. If you would like your adult or guardian to come on stage with you that’s okay too!
