Murton, County Durham – Local mum, MMA coach, and gym co-owner Katrina Fisher has been officially selected to represent Team England at the IMMAF MMA World Championships in Georgia this September.
With an impressive amateur record of 6-1, Katrina is currently ranked #1 Female Amateur Flyweight in the England and #10 pound-for-pound among all female MMA fighters in UK – both amateur and professional – in the country. She now has her sights set on bringing home gold for England.
Katrina co-owns TFT MMA in Seaham alongside her husband, Andrew Fisher, head coach and a respected professional MMA fighter. The gym is home to aspiring athletes, children, and women from across the community, and has produced UFC-level fighters. Katrina herself coaches and mentors many of these students, using MMA to build confidence, discipline, and resilience.
Unlike many countries, England does not provide funding for athletes competing in the IMMAF World Championships. All travel, accommodation, competition fees, and training costs must be covered by the athlete. Katrina is therefore calling on local businesses and the community to help make her dream – and England’s gold medal hopes – a reality.
“The IMMAF World Championships is the biggest competition in the World for MMA Fighters,” says Katrina.
“It’s a dream come true to compete on it. I have worked so hard to get to this point in my career and I have every intention of brining the Gold home for the North East and for England. I want to show our community – especially women and young girls – that with determination, anything is possible.”
Katrina is seeking both sponsorship partners and donations to cover the ÂŁ3,000 needed for her trip. So far, she has raised part of the total through crowdfunding and is offering brand exposure opportunities to businesses who come on board.
