Durham Astronomical Society are pleased to announce a free public outreach event, on 9th May 2016, at DWT Rainton Meadows, DH4 6PU, to observe the transit of Mercury.

Members of the public will be able to observe the planet Mercury cross the sun’s disk through our members solar-filtered telescopes.

The event is free with voluntary donations to the society and will run right through from 12 noon to 7.30pm.

In addition to the main event, the society will also have one or two telescopes at Durham University Botanic Gardens, DH1 3TN from 12.00-5.00pm, Normal entry fees apply.
