A County Durham coach operator with a history stretching back more than 60 years has entered a new chapter following its acquisition by North East-based investment firm Alpro Capital.
Lee’s Coaches, which was founded in the 1960s, has built a reputation for providing coach hire, day excursions and coach holidays for customers across the region and beyond. The business serves schools, sports teams, community groups and holidaymakers, operating a fleet of executive coaches and employing around 30 members of staff.
The acquisition marks the first investment by Alpro Capital, a firm established by entrepreneur David Alprovich.
Speaking about the acquisition, David said: “Before acquiring Lee’s Coaches, I looked at more than 100 opportunities and met with over 40 business owners across a range of sectors. Lee’s stood out because of its heritage, strong reputation, loyal customer base and experienced team.”
Lee’s Coaches has become a familiar name across County Durham and the wider North East through its commitment to customer service and reliability. The company operates a modern fleet of executive coaches and has built a loyal customer base over many years.
David added: “We are looking at new marketing channels and using data to maximise fleet utilisation. In the future I feel that bolt-on acquisitions could be an attractive route to growth.”
The company will continue operating under the Lee’s Coaches name, with the new ownership focused on supporting the business’s future development while maintaining the services customers have come to expect.
The acquisition reflects continued investment in established regional businesses across the North East, with firms increasingly looking to support companies that have strong local roots and long-standing customer relationships.
