Local horror film director, Dean Midas, from Willington, has had a dream 2023, today, that got even better when The Devil’s Stone won the Audience Choice at the Lift-Off Filmmaker Sessions Awards.

Lift-Off’s HQ, is at the prestigious Pinewood Studios.

The Devil’s Stone was only released eight weeks ago and already has over 25K views. A minor miracle for a film made for only £200.

Dean said “This has been a life-changing year, I have already been named as North-East film director of the year and now this. This win is for the whole team and sets us up for an exciting 2024.”

“The jury has returned their verdict, and I’m thrilled to tell you that you are one of the filmmakers who has received an Audience Choice Award! Congratulations.” Natalie Daniels. GM: Lift Off Global Network Ltd.

Dean’s films are all made on mobile phones on a minimal budget, using local venues and actors. Interest in his short films is going global. Dean plans to make two more films in 2024, including The Devil’s Stone 2 and a new Eve Valentine movie.
