RAMSIDE GOLF’s junior team have proved their prowess, after being named Durham County Champions.

The team of young players, aged between nine and 20, swept to victory in the mini league finals on Sunday (25 September).

The Ramside Juniors, who play at Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa, were pitted against young golfers from Darlington Golf Club and Durham City Golf Club at the grand final.

All three teams had won their individual league titles, making them eligible to take part in the finals to find an overall winner.

Since 11 September each team has played at the other courses every weekend, with the final match seeing Ramside playing against Durham City at Darlington.

Ramside Juniors won overall by one point, making them Durham County Champions for 2022.

Ian Macdonald, junior liaison officer at Ramside for the past 15 years, said everyone was very proud of their achievement.

“They have done amazingly well, they are a great bunch who deserve this success,” he said.

“The junior section is a great ambassador for the golf club and is going from strength to strength.”

Matthew Brady, who is also a junior liaison officer, praised Ramside Golf Club.

“We’re also very grateful to the help and support given to us by John Adamson, owner of Ramside and director Helen Roseberry which allows us to build this brilliant team,” he said.

Helen Roseberry added her praise for the team.

“The junior team has done incredibly well and they are a massive asset to the club,” she said.

“We hope this will also encourage more young people to come along and look at getting involved in golf.”
