Durham Classic Car Show returns on August Bank Holiday Monday with rare cars amongst more than 125 classic cars to be displayed in the city centre.
Organisers are confident that this year’s show will have the finest line up of cars in the event’s history, with participating cars including a rare 1938 MG SA Sports Saloon, a hand-built 1948 HRG which is one of only 241 ever on the road, and a 2002 Maserati Spyder.
Durham Classic Car Show is open to the public from 11am to 4pm on Bank Holiday Monday, 29th August and is free to attend. Cars will be displayed throughout the city centre, making for photo opportunities in front of the Durham Cathedral on Palace Green, in Durham Market Place and Millennium Square and also on Framwellgate and Elvet Bridges.
On the day, more than 50 vehicles will be displayed on Palace Green in the shadow of Durham Cathedral, from all eras and manufacturers, from Ford to Rolls Royce. The Market Place will host an exhibition of sports cars from different eras, and elsewhere in the city centre will be club displays of Mercedes Benz, BMW and MG vehicles.
Malcolm Vance, who organises the event together with Durham Markets Company, commented: “This is a great day for enthusiasts, the curious and for those who simply enjoy something a little different. Durham’s compact city centre with so many stunning backdrops adds to the atmosphere. Once again this year, it should be a great day out for all. Visitors are welcome to take photographs, chat with owners and make the most of the August Bank Holiday in the heart of Durham.”
